Today, after the market in the morning, we went and hired kayaks on Narrabeen lakes not far from where we live. The lakes are actually a lagoon connected to the sea by a narrow inlet. We got a single kayak each and spend a couple of hours paddling around the lakes in the sunshine. It was an excellent day out! My favourite part was the area nearest to the inlet, where the salt water came rolling in through the narrow channel. The sand is pale there, and the water clear and fairly shallow. It felt a bit like the Mediterranean, with it's gentle ripples (as opposed to terrifying surf) and crystal clear water. I would love to go swimming there some time, perhaps next weekend if the weather is good. I'll try to get some photos then, so you can see what I mean.
Speaking of weather, we had a brilliant sunny morning and just managed to dodge an afternoon thunderstorm as we came home. Currently the rain is pouring down outside.
