Christmas in July

Here in the southern hemisphere some people (I suspect people from the northern hemisphere) have decided that Christmas needs to be celebrated midwinter - even if midwinter happens to be in July. Hence the phenomena of Christmas in July.

Here in Sydney there are various Christmas in July events to choose from, a harbour cruise with Christmas dinner being one of the more popular ones. Dwayne and I were however invited along with a group of British people for Christmas late lunch at a pub in Paddington. It was fantastic - complete with Christmas carols, gifts and a visit from Santa (or Tomten as we know him in Sweden)!

To be quite honest, I felt more of the Christmas spirit in those few hours yesterday than I did for the entire holidays back in December. (Even though the weather yesterday was just like a really good summer's day in northern Europe with 22 degrees, sunshine and a mild breeze).

Tomten! How exciting!
