The sport of kings - and me!

Today I tried polo for the first time in my life. And it was amazing! I am not a fan of team sports, or of anything where I need to kick or hit or whack or bounce a ball. But here is a sport where you get to whizz around on a zippy little polo pony at a hundred miles an hour whilst swinging a mallet and doing 180 turns on the hindquarters. My kind of sport!

Now, I only got to be on horseback for a little while and just as I was getting into the whole ball hitting idea it was all over. I had an inconsistent 50/50 hit/miss ratio, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was cantering around with an idiot grin on my face.

Again! Again!

Dwayne also tried polo. His riding skills need some work, but he was better than me at hitting that pesky ball (at least whilst on the wooden horse). And he enjoyed the experience at least at much as I did!

Unfortunately the polo fields are an hour and a half from where we live, and lessons are really expensive. So I will have to leave the sport of kings to the kings. Maybe.

Perfecting that swing

The group - unfortunately I did not manage to get a photo of me on (real) horseback
