A gardening project

I have never really grown anything in my life, if you don't count corn grown from putting un-popped popcorn in flowerpots. And once I was involved in growing a tomato plant from a seed that sprouted on a neglected dish brush in a house share in London.

Actually, to be fair, I once did make an effort to grow some seeds in a flowerbed against the wall of a little house I was renting - but that project ended ten minutes later when my dog decided to help and replaced the flowerbed (seeds and all) with a trench.

Anyway, this weekend Dwayne and I went to our local plant nursery to pick up some stuff for the herbs his mum gave us as a housewarming gift. We got a large container in the form of a half barrel and some potting soil, and now we have a picturesque looking little herb garden on our balcony! Some of that basil goes in my pasta bake tonight.

I think I will be moving on to succulents, and leave the herb gardening to Dwayne. I reckon succulents are a safe choice for our sunny, hot and dry balcony. Let's see if my fingers have a slight green tinge after all...?

Charming, don't you think?

Lena: Eller hur!

Mamma: Nejdå, vi ska vattna och pyssla om. (Fast jag tror fortfarande suckulenter är ett säkrare kort...)
